Friendly staff and a large variety of free samples. We visited twice, the second with extended family that hadn't been with us the first time. It was cool to see the workers doing their thing on display behind the glass, and to have free kona coffee samples. Also, it is fun for the kids (and adults) to use their nut crackers and crack your own. There are two: the one on the left works much better. (Wear the supplied goggles if you don't sport glasses!)
A nice little operation.

Spam flavor nuts. That's Hawaiian.
This place is friendly. A small clean self walking factory tour. My kids like the nut cracking machine that they cracked the nuts and ate the fresh nuts.

Love it. As soon as you come in, you're greeted and encouraged to explore their giant spread of samples. We ended up with cans of onion and honey glazed macadamias. One of the women working there was amazingly sweet and friendly; 6 stars for her!
Sadly the machinery wasn't active the two times we visited, but we're looking forward to checking it out on a later visit
Absolutely
tour Hamakua Macadamia Nut Company! My husband and I brought our 3
daughters here for a tour and it was so fun and the ladies that helped
us were so generous with their samples and it was so much fun. They were
so friendly and helpful. We had one woman tour our family quickly and
answer any questions we had. She offered us any samples we wanted and as
many as we wanted.

You can't go wrong with this factory. Please give them your business, they are the best!

This
place is huge and is much better IMO than the Mauna Loa mac nut
company. There were lots of samples, the warehouse was clean. They even
had raw mac nuts which you could crack yourself and eat. Samples of
coffee too were great. I bought a lot of nuts back home. The honey
glazed ones are our favorite.

Hamakua
Mac Nuts offers a tour, free Kona Coffee roasted there, a free sample
of whatever mac popcorn they're making, and an astounding 20 different
treats to taste. All free. Our children got to crack the nuts, much to
their delight. We were disappointed that the Spam Mac nuts didn't taste
like the pork product, but we bought several items. Took other family
members here a week later with consistent results.

Cute a friendly macadamia nut factory that is a wonderful alternative to Mauna Loa or other Huge producers.
The staff is so sweet and friendly!
Their nuts are excellent quality and the coffee coated ones are a special treat.
When
I was there about six months ago and fell in love with the new coffee
flavor, the women in the shop were telling me how the coffee coated nuts
were a new recipe that they had just learned a week before. I ate more
pounds of that first batch than I am willing to admit : )

YES!
come here instead of mauna loa and you will not be disappointed. it is
out of the way and in an industrial looking area but those are the only
negatives. the ladies who work here are incredibly nice and friendly. I
came with my parents and 5yo daughter. they gave us a personalized tour
of their factory, complete with dehusking and cracking our own mac nuts
(and eating them!). They had an UNBELIEVEABLE number of samples (like
over 10 different kinds of mac nuts, AND also 5 samples of popcorn, 3
kinds of brittle). they are very very generous with the samples and
don't make you feel bad about going back for more, and more (unlike
mauna loa where I sampled about 3 nuts and actually felt like i was
committing a crime by sampling one more of the ones I already sampled).
This small outfit gets their nuts from independent small farmers on the
island who farm sustainably. it was mac nut factory heaven. I chose to
spend all my

I
had a blast here! I loved how they had samples so you knew exactly what
you were going to buy and not be disappointed. The lady that helped us
was great, very friendly and it made for a fun visit. You must go here
when in the area!!!

I
highly recommend visiting this plant. You can learn about the
agriculture of macadamia nuts and the future of creating bio diesel.
There
was a tour guide who explained the agricultural and plant process of
these delicious nuts. Also, in the store you can sample different
flavored nuts. They sell local and handcrafted goods, several varieties
of honey, coffee and ice cream.
Their pamphlet explains bio fuel
process: "Your decision to purchase Hamakua macadamia nuts helps us to
keep our island green and supports Hawaii's independent macadamia nut
farmers while assuring you of the highest quality available anywhere.
Hamakua
Macadamia Nut Company strives to be environmentally responsible. We use
no fossil fuels in the drying or our nuts. Our nuts are dried by
burning the high energy clean burning macadamia nut shells and
converting the energy into steam which currently drys our nuts and is
Phase 1 of a 2 Phase process. Phase 2 will be the bio mass production of
electricity through the same process of burning the macadamia nut
shells."
